Milford 1
First day at milford sound was looking a bit shabby. Yet still we pressed on to the furthest camp site we could and bagged our spot next to the stream.
We headed up towards the sound and the tunnel that connects an area of many sandflies to one of many more sandflies.
The tunnel was started in the 1930s and I think it will be finished fairly soon.
This was about all we saw of the sound. Mitre 10 peak looking very uninviting - assuming it is actually there.
On our way back to camp we went for a small walk to the chasm, a place where the railings never feel quite high enough.
Hardship is often the birthplace of Invention and the 8mm of mesh that we bought from Spotlight finally came into use. We manage to tie it to the footy with clothes headaches so that most of the sand flies were kept out, very much like the air lock that kept Calvin out of the Spaceship in the movie life with roughly the same success.
Hmmmmmm......yes. Well......moving right along.....
